When police in Kalaburagi district questioned six men who were arrested in Sedam town on the Telangana border for transporting two Indian eagle-owls, they were astonished with the motive. The poachers said a politician contesting elections in the neighbouring state had “ordered” the nocturnal birds to help bring misfortune to his rivals.
