BJP’s allies suddenly find more bargaining power

This was reflected in the NDA’s seat-sharing deal for Bihar announced on Sunday where Ram Vilas Paswan’s LJP managed to wrangle six Lok Sabha seats besides a Rajya Sabha nomination. BJP, on the other hand, will have to bench five of its sitting MPs. The party had won 22 of the 30 seats it contested in 2014, but will now fight only 17 seats, having conceded 17 to JD(U).
