Companies face action over TDS non-payment

​Under the law, individuals as well as companies have to deduct tax for several payments — ranging from salaries to rent and payments to contractors above a specified threshold. The payments also have to be made during a stipulated period, failing which a company is liable to be prosecuted as the government sees this as a major violation.
