Next CBI chief: PM-led panel zeroes in on 5 names

Initially, a shortlist of 30-odd IPS officers picked from an exhaustive list of 80 eligible officers belonging to 1983-85 batches were considered. Further, the list was cut down to five — former DGP Rishi Kumar Shukla, CRPF chief R R Bhatnagar, NSG chief Sudeep Lakhtakia, National Institute of Criminology & Forensic Sciences director Javeed Ahmed and BPR&D chief A P Maheshwari.
