Tax savings are small for middle class

Besides raising the standard deduction from Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000, the FM proposed a full rebate for individual taxpayers having total income of up to Rs 5 lakh. Currently, a rebate of Rs 2,500 was available to those having a taxable income of up to Rs 3.5 lakh.
