UP to repeal law that makes treasury pay ministers’ income tax

A day after TOI exclusively reported that the Uttar Pradesh treasury has been paying income tax of the state’s chief ministers and his council of ministers for nearly four decades thanks to a law enacted in 1981, CM Yogi Adityanath on Friday swiftly announced repeal of the controversial provision in the Act.
