Abhijit Banerjee cautions against fiscal tightening

With less than a month for Union Budget 2020, Nobel laureate Abhijit Banerjee cautioned against fiscal tightening, stating that the fiscal deficit has already been breached by a huge margin. "Budget deficit numbers are a little bit imaginary so in that sense I do not think it is a big deal to breach it, and I would not be supporting fiscal tightening right now," said Banerjee.
