Covid-19 fight: What ails Mumbai cops?

In June this year, constable Ganesh Mandke* and his family moved all their belongings into the living room of their 220 sq feet house at Mahim’s New Police Colony. Rain water had seeped into the kitchen and they were fearful of touching electrical equipment in the room. Mandke says most houses in the colony’s 14 buildings have leakages, the staircases lie damaged and some have escaped injury when their ceiling gave way. But the occupants of such decrepit police quarters at Mahim, Ghatkopar, Worli, Matunga have to stay on.
