Watch: Why farm bills are good for farmers

Dr Ashok Gulati is India's most acclaimed agriculture economist and has been Chairman of Commission for Agriculture Cost and Prices. TOI asked him some of the most critical questions facing the agriculture sector. He says Congress manifesto of 2019 in the agriculture section at point number 11 and 12 talks about the same reforms to APMC the way the NDA has done it. He feels the new farmer bills will give farmers the freedom not just in production of commodities but also directly join hands with processors, exporters or retailers to sell.
