BJP's plan to break Congress in Goa was a year in the making

Sources in the Congress say that Sopte and Shirodkar had discussed the BJP’s proposal with some of their core members even then. The process was delayed after chief minister Manohar Parrikar took ill in February. In fact, a year ago, a cabinet decision was taken regarding acquisition of land at Shiroda belonging to Shirodkar which sources said was done to benefit the Congress MLA for a quid-pro arrangement.
