'Natural disasters cost India $80 bn in 20 yrs'

India has been ranked among world's top five countries in absolute economic losses. Globally, disaster losses during the 20-year period of 1998 to 2017 have been estimated at $3 trillion. These losses have increased by more than 120% in the last 20 years compared to the preceding two decades (1978-1997).
