Crackdown on UP Cong: Ploy to raise a rival for SP?

The Monday night arrest of UP Congress minority cell chief Shahnawaz Alam followed by party workers protests has led to the deliberation in Lucknow that if the ruling party is deliberately allowing some space to Congress leaders so that it can emerge as a challenger to the Samajwadi Party in the opposition ranks. Analysts say it was a brilliant move to divide opposition votes.
